Last night the weather was terrible, but I had been invited to a dinner party with some good friends of mine and I was really looking forward to it.

While I (to talk) to them on the phone, a large branch of a tree (to fall) on the line. My phone went dead too. So I decided to stay home and cook dinner for myself.

While I (to cook) the meat, the thermostat (to fall off) and my dinner (to get) burnt. So I decided to take a TV dinner from the freezer and put it in the microwave.
The food (to heat up) when suddenly the microwave (to explode). I had forgotten to take the tinfoil away. So I (to try) to forget about dinner and decided to watch some TV instead.

I (to watch) the news when the TV set (to break) down. So I decided to surf on the Internet for a while.

When I (to start) the computer, I (to realize) that surfing was impossible. The telephone line was dead, remember.

The only thing I could think of was doing some ironing. I (to iron) my fifth shirt , when the fuse (to blow). So I decided to go to the cellar and repair it.
While I (to repair) the fuse, a flash of lightning (to strike) the house and I (to get) a terrible electric shock.
